Our History
Founded in 1987 by a group of sportsmen interested in establishing a “viable Chinook Salmon sport fishing industry”. Our hatchery was constructed on banks of Kam River on property leased from Ontario Hydro.
LOTTERY DRAW: SUPPORT THE HATCHERY OPERATION, AND WIN SOMETHING FUN
Every couple of years the TBSA puts together a raffle package, and sells tickets around the community to raise money to support our hatchery operation. Find out more about our previous and upcoming draws/events on our Community Events and News pages.
CLIPPED FISH: REWARDS FOR SUBMITTED FISH WITH CLIPPED ADIPOSE FIN
The TBSA wants to know how our fish are doing! If you catch a salmon with a clipped adipose fin, contact us, and you will receive a pin. See our Clipped Salmon page for more details.
HATCHERY: OVER 4,000,000 SALMON RAISED
The hatchery is the heart of the TBSA. Every October we collect, fertilize, and hatch chinook salmon eggs, and raise the salmon to fingerling size, releasing them into the Kaministiquia river in June. Find out more on our Hatchery Operation page.
